In this 2 day workshop, Kate and Nathaniel teach participants to paint still life and cityscapes in gouache with a focus on simplification, value, and abstraction. Attendees benefit from both artists’ experience and perspective, and develop observational skills, which will help them to create compelling paintings in gouache from life and from reference.

This immersive workshop is designed to equip artists with the skills to capture and celebrate dark skin tones using gouache, a versatile water-based medium. Under the expert guidance of Eugene Young, participants will work with a live model during both sessions, enhancing their observational abilities and understanding of skin texture, color, and composition.
